World juniors 2015 live: Canada takes on Russia in gold-medal showdown

It’s been five long years since a Canadian team has won a gold medal at the world junior championship. But after beating Slovakia 5-1 in the semifinal, Canada has found itself just one win away from the gold.

Standing in the way is Russia, who beat Sweden 4-1 to advance to the championship game.

Claus Andersen/Getty ImagesFans will pack the house during the gold medal game at the Air Canada Centre. But this kind of scene was not present during Canada’s games in Montreal.

The last time these two teams met in a final was 2011 when the Russians shocked the Canadians by coming back from a three-goal deficit in the third period to win the game 5-3.

Will this Canadian team, led by Max Domi, Connor McDavid and Curtis Lazar, be able to end Canada’s gold medal drought? Or will the Russians be the team that finally solves Canada at this year’s tournament? Follow along for news, photos, tweets and analysis from the game.
