PITTSBURGH — The Edmonton Oilers dealt left-winger David Perron to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday in exchange for centre Rob Klinkhammer and a first-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Perron, 26, played 116 games over the past two seasons with the Oilers after spending his first six NHL seasons with the St. Louis Blues.
He had a career-high 28 goals and 57 points last season. The Sherbrooke, Que., native is signed through the 2015-’16 campaign and his contract has an average annual value of US$3,812,500.
Perron has 19 points (5-14) in 38 games this season. In 456 career NHL games, he has 117 goals and 157 assists for 274 points.

Perron was drafted by the Blues with the 26th overall pick at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Klinkhammer, meanwhile, has six points (4-2) in 29 games this season with the Penguins and Arizona Coyotes. The 28-year-old native of Lethbridge, Alta., made his NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010-’11.
He has 39 points (20-19) in 139 career games.
The Oilers (8-22-8) are last in the Western Conference standings. The Penguins (23-9-5), meanwhile, enter Friday’s games just one point behind first-place Tampa Bay in the Eastern Conference.
